General Intake Requirements
Holder of a bachelor degree in creative or performing art.
Houder van een bachelor in scheppende of uitvoerende kunsten.

Audition + Interview
PART 1: Practical exam
The practical exam consists of two parts:
1) Audition: Five standards/songs of your own choice
· Jazz candidates: you will have to prepare five standards/tunes of your own choice. If necessary, the conservatory will supply the accompanists (rhythm section).
· Pop candidates: you will have to prepare five pop songs.
You will need to provide your own accompaniment or backing band.
2) Prima Vista
You will have to play a standard/song at sight (prima vista). The level of this song will not be too difficult and will be a jazz/pop song.
During your practical instrument/voice test you have to show your artistic and technical level in as many as possible ways.
PART 2 : Interview
After your audition, there will be an intake (interview) with the Orientation Committee about your motivation, artistic discipline, communication skills and knowledge of the specific domains of performing music. The Orientation Committee consists of several teachers and experts in the field you are applying for. The Orientation Committee makes the final decision on enrolment in the master course.
Possibility to audition online
Candidates in Jazz or Pop Music may opt to provide an online video audition, if they cannot make it to the audition in person. Please make sure that your video complies with following standards:
- video and audio must be of decent quality ! Please pay attention to the acoustics of your recording.
- video must be a live captation in which the jury members can clearly see you playing your instrument !
- audio must be the audio from the video performance. Edits, overdubs, additional mixing ... is not allowed.

DEEL 1: Praktijkexamen
Het praktijkexamen bestaat uit twee delen:
1) Auditie: Vijf standards/liedjes naar eigen keuze
- Jazzkandidaten: je moet vijf standards/liedjes naar eigen keuze voorbereiden. Indien nodig zorgt het conservatorium voor de begeleiders (ritmesectie).
- Popkandidaten: je bereidt vijf popsongs voor.
Je zorgt zelf voor begeleiding of een backing band.
2) Prima Vista
Je speelt een standard/song op zicht (prima vista). Het niveau van dit nummer is niet te moeilijk en is een jazz/pop nummer.
Tijdens je praktische instrument/stemtest moet je op zoveel mogelijk manieren je artistieke en technische niveau tonen.
DEEL 2 : Interview
Na je auditie volgt een intake (gesprek) met de Oriëntatiecommissie over je motivatie, artistieke discipline, communicatieve vaardigheden en kennis van de specifieke domeinen van de uitvoerende muziek. De Oriëntatiecommissie bestaat uit verschillende docenten en deskundigen op het gebied waarvoor je solliciteert. De Oriëntatiecommissie neemt de uiteindelijke beslissing over de inschrijving voor de masteropleiding.
Mogelijkheid tot online auditie
Kandidaten in Jazz of Popmuziek kunnen kiezen voor een online video-auditie, als ze niet persoonlijk naar de auditie kunnen komen. Zorg ervoor dat je video voldoet aan de volgende normen:
- video en audio moeten van behoorlijke kwaliteit zijn ! Let op de akoestiek van uw opname.
- video moet een live-opname zijn waarin de juryleden je duidelijk kunnen zien spelen op je instrument !
- de audio moet de audio van de video-opname zijn. Edits, overdubs, extra mixen ... zijn niet toegestaan.
